I moved to Slovenia in 2007 when the country was ‘just’ 16 years old. It’s amazing to think that next year I will have been here 9 years, and Slovenia will be celebrating 25 years of independence.

It has certainly changed over the years, even in the relatively short time I have lived here. Every country has its problems, and Slovenia is no exception, but for me the positives of living here far outweigh the negatives.

To me Slovenia means ‘peace’ – in many senses of the word. Nature is undoubtedly one of the country’s finest assets with an abundance of forests, hills, mountains, lakes and rivers – perfect for outdoor lovers like me.

In these turbulent times a peaceful existence, and peace itself, are not things to be taken for granted.

I have moved many times but it wasn’t until I came to Slovenia that I finally found somewhere to call ‘home’ and I most certainly intend to stay. I hope that readers of my Blog - adeleinslovenia.wordpress.com - will understand my enthusiasm for and commitment to this country.
